Why Querida is the halal Mexican restaurant Dubai has been waiting for
Mexican restaurants in Dubai have long fallen into two camps: hotel-Mexican concepts that serve alcohol-cooked dishes, or Tex-Mex chains with imported pork and unverified meat sourcing. Querida is neither.
Every cut of meat we cook with — the lamb in our birria, the beef in our asada, the chicken in our tinga, the pastor — comes from halal-certified suppliers in the UAE. There is no pork on the menu. There is no alcohol in the kitchen. Every dish is family-friendly, kid-safe, and the recipes are exactly what Mama Lalis cooked for her family in Monclova, Coahuila — which has always been halal-compatible by accident.
Mexican homestyle cooking does not need pork to be authentic. It needs the chiles, the masa, the patient broth, and the family table. Querida brought all of those to a quiet street in Al Barsha.
